Mandarin Immersion Summer Camp Overview

The Mandarin Immersion Summer Camp at Jade Chinese School is a unique and transformative experience you won’t want to miss! With options spanning from one to four weeks, our Mandarin Chinese summer camp strengthens students’ proficiency in Mandarin Chinese and deeply immerses them in Chinese culture using a variety of creative methods. …with so much more included! By the end of the Chinese summer camp, students will leave with a revitalized sense of curiosity and appreciation for the Chinese language and culture.

Prerequisites

Our summer camp welcomes students between the ages of 7-15 or have a beginner understanding of Chinese.

Learning Outcomes

Throughout this Chinese summer camp, students will…

Learn how to order in Chinese from a menu and state food allergies.
Express yourself fluently in Chinese with the help of Chinese Totoro!
Explore local Chinese culture in Los Angeles
Engage in a variety of Chinese activities to strengthen their listening, speaking, reading, writing, and typing skills
Form friendships with other students who are Mandarin Chinese learners

Our Schedule

Our Chinese summer camp takes place in two-week batches. The first session is from June 16 to June 27 and the second session is from July 14 to July 25.

In each session, students can join from one of our 2-week sessions. We meet on Monday through Friday and students can join from 9 am to 12 pm with the Half Day option from 1 pm to 4 pm.

Meeting Location

At this moment, the exact meeting location has not been finalized yet as it depends on the number of students who enroll. However, we plan to be in the Palos Verdes area.

Bonuses

Students who join the Chinese summer camp also receive a free credit to one of our group speaking workshops that we hold throughout the year. The redemption period for this credit is one year. At these workshops, we focus on a specific theme (e.g. travel, business, cafe, etc.) and provide a space for students to speak casually with one another in the presence of a teacher, who gently corrects mistakes and offers speaking tips.

Additionally, we reward referrals! For every student who refers a friend to join, both students will receive a 5% discount, capped at 15% per student (or 3 referrals per student).

Cancellation Policy

For the Chinese summer camp, our cancellation policy is the following:

If a student cancels 2+ weeks in advance, they will receive 100% credit back
If a student cancels 1-2 weeks in advance, they will receive 50% credit back
If a student cancels less than a week in advance, they will not receive any credit back
There is no refund or credit for individual days missed

Please note that credit refers to money that can be used towards Jade Chinese School’s services, including private lessons, group lessons, after school tutoring sessions, and more.
